Footwear
For most of the year it is quite wet and muddy at Woodgate Valley.  Children should wear indoor shoes on the bus/coach and bring wellies in a plastic bag.  Walking/trekking boots are fine if they are not doing a stream study.  If the forecast is for cold weather, children should bring 2 extra pairs of socks to wear inside their wellies.  The teacher has some spare wellies that can be lent out.

Clothing
Children should not wear their school uniform trousers.
If it is cold they will need:
  • Tracksuit bottoms/jogging bottoms (not jeans)
  • Warm layers  – long sleeved t-shirt, jumper/sweatshirt, and fleece
  • Warm waterproof coat with a hood
  • Hat and gloves
If it is hot and sunny:
  • Sunhat
  • Sunscreen
  • Light weight shoes

Personal medication
Children should bring inhalers and hay fever medication if they need it.

Lunch
If schools are staying all day, children should be encouraged to bring a healthy packed lunch.

Spending Money
Children can buy souvenirs from the Visitor Centre desk (pens, pencils, notepads, bouncy balls etc.).  Teachers will need to supervise the children and £1 is more than enough money.
