Day Centres

Birmingham City Council runs thirteen days centres within the UK.  These centres are offering varied courses for a range of age groups.

All of the centres pride themselves on their excellent opportunities, friendly staff and wonderful locations.

Bell Heath Day Centre: The Warren

A new day centre facility with a new classroom has opened at the Bell Heath site.  It shares to the natural environment and facilities of the residential centre.

Birmingham Nature Centre

is on the Pershore Road backing on to Cannon Hill Park.
It consists of six acres of land and is the home of animals and plants from Britain and beyond. Among the most popular animals are otters, beavers, owls, and a variety of invertebrates. The variety of groups of animals on display at the Nature Centre makes it an invaluable resource to support the Science Curriculum.

Birmingham Outdoor Education Centre

This centre offers courses to all age groups in a variety of formats, meeting the customers needs.  The centre can lay on courses from climbing to mountain biking, canoeing to sailing.  INSET courses are also arranged and tailored to order.

Botanical Gardens Base

Purpose built teaching areas at the Botanical Gardens.  A stimulating environment in which the setting focuses cross curricular work.

Chapman's Hill Farm

The Centre is a 150 acre working farm operated jointly by the Education Department and the Worgan Trust.  It is situated on the south west edge of Birmingham next to the M5 motorway and is easily reached form all parts of the City.

Hams Hall Environmental Centre

The Environmental Studies Centre is owned and sponsored by E.ON UK, who in conjunction with Birmingham City Council, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and Warwickshire County Council offer it for term time use by schools.

Money Lane School Farm

The Centre which belongs to the Worgan Trust, part of Bournville Village Trust, is an Educational farm and aims to give Nursery, Infant and Special School children the opportunity to visit and have direct contact, under proper supervision, with farm animals and the farming environment.

Springfield Environmental Centre

The joys of discovering the natural world should be available to all children. Springfield Study Centre near Knowle, close to Birmingham is designed especially for children with physical or sensory deprivation: those children who have often been excluded from wild places due to problems of access.  The Centre was built in 1982 by the Variety Club of Great Britain for Birmingham Local Education Authority and when completed Birmingham LEA took on all the running costs.  For hire of the centre please click here.

Woodgate Valley Country Park

Woodgate Valley is an area of meadows, hedgerows, woods and streams on the western edge of Birmingham. Most of the Country Park was originally farmland, although there were also brick works, clay pits and nailmaking sites. It is now a haven for wildlife and, therefore, a valuable educational resource for schools.
